Demon Hunter: There Was A Light Here

Photos and footage arranged and shot by me, of my sculptures in various real world locations, sets, and dioramas that I built.
In 2024 I was commissioned to create a sculpture to be featured on the cover of Demon Hunter's upcoming album 'There Was A Light Here'. Part of the commission was to cast the piece in fireproof material so that it could be photographed while on fire. Since I had to make a mold of the piece, that triggered the part of my brain that loves to do variations on a theme.

The exercise displayed above was to provide potential B roll for music videos, NOT be an entire video in and of themselves. (to that end, the first 30 seconds is a very brief sample of each piece, then there are full faux-music-videos for them all. I put chapters so you can sample at your leisure)

I learned a lot about logistics of film shoots, limits of my gear (camera, motion control and lighting equipment) and many other things. I learned that cheap plastic waders will leak ice cold water, that sneaker waves can travel around boulders on the beach stealing your camera bag destroying your $900 lens, and that many LED lights cause flickering artifacts. Though none of this footage was used by the band (it was not officially requested by them) it was still a valuable fan art project that will inform future work.
